OMG…I love you. You are who I am now and who I plan to be in a few years when I get out of school and have my RN and we buy land and build our dream house! What state do you live that you are able to do all your farming and unschooling with ease? And I found you on MDC.

Haha, thanks! Glad to be an inspiration.
We live in Nevada, which has great laws. So does TX and AZ and a few others, too.
We won’t be staying in NV though. Not sure yet where we will end up. Where do you live?

We live in PA. We don’t like it here very much at all…ever. It gets very cold…last night it was 2 degrees F. I didn’t evolve to live in a deep freezer! And the homeschool laws here are rather pooey. Would write more but just fed baby and he is now sleeping with his head nestled between the milkies. And I am a facebook addict if you do FB. I’m bfing the baby in my profile pic if you search…go figure.

We’re in MD now, but I’m originally from AZ and hope to go back either there or NM. My wife and I hope to be able to build an earthship when we retire – I’ve got the first two volumes of the Earthship books, but still need to get the third.
Cheers,
Mike

Seasonal Cookbooks:
The Cookery Year (70’s Reader’s Digest from England–so find it used)
HomeMade (Sandra Oddo–also find it used for cheap online)
Full Moon Feast (Jessica Prentice, lyrical, lovely)
Vegetarian Cooking for Everyone (Deborah Madison)–not exactly laid out seasonally, but does give a real sense of seasonal veg and their uses, much more creatively than most)
Nourishing Traditions (same, gives a sense, but not limited to veg–gives an overview of living/eating in a whole and traditional way)
Other books
Back to Basics (another old Reader’s Digest book–indispensable)
The Foxfire Books (available new, but also used–there are now 12 I think, but I have only found 6 so far)
So many more, but that’s a good start
